Using our Site

This is a "free" site designed for researching your Tri-State ancestors by categories and time-frames across 3 states & 32+ counties simultaneously. Categories means census, marriages, cemeteries, etc. There are no links to information 'by county'. Categories is how we do research, so SMARC was designed the same way. The benefit is that tracking an ancestor across county and state lines is much easier when categories are used to sort the vast amount of on-line resources. SMARC takes the guess work out of locating a resource on the internet. After all, it doesn't really matter where it is, a researcher just wants to get to it and be able to find it again. SMARC removes all the navigational hassles of finding resources.

Many of our records are housed at our site. Others are linked for ease in navigation to off-site locations and credit is given to the author of that site where the information is found or by the original author of the information, if known. Links to external web sites are being provided as a convenience and for informational purposes only; they do not constitute an endorsement or approval of any of the products, services or opinions contained in any external web site. Some links may be to databases that can only be accessed by paid subscribers. Whether you join those services to see this data or not, is strictly up to you. Our goal is to offer the most comprehensive resources for researching your ancestors in our tri-state mountain area regardless of where it is located on the internet.
