| Welcome... ......my name is "C.A.T." Tindell.
Joseph V. Tindell 1915 - 1990
My
adopted grandfather was, Jacob
Zachary
"Jake" TINDEL, Sr. who
lived in Calhoun Co., FL. He was the son of Green
TINDELL and Amanda Caroline JONES-COHRON from Henry
Co., AL. He spelled our
last name with only one "L" but the
original way was TINDELL My father
was the only one of his 12 children to revert to
using the two "L's". Jake came
from Henry Co., AL and married my grandmother,
Lena Virginia DUNCAN, in 1900 Jackson Co.,
FL. She was a dtr of William Henry Harrison 'Henry'
and Margaret Virginia YARBOROUGH-DUNCAN from Monroe, Pike & Coffee Cos., AL. I have found TINDELL spelled
TINDEL, TINDLE, TENDEL, TINDAL, TINDOL,
TYNDALE, TINDRAL and also all of these with two
"Ls" in all resources while denoting
the same ancestor. They were TINDALLs when they were in DE
and MD. Some of the AL clans changed it to TINDELL.
The
TINDALLs & TINDELLs of Dale, Geneva & Henry Cos. AL originated from
Colonial DE & MD into Tyrrell Co., NC & SC with a stop over in
Wilkinson & Morgan Cos., GA before arriving in AL by 1830. They were closely related to the WATFORDs of
SC, would migrate with each other and inter-marry several times over the
succeeding generations. Allied names back in DE and MD were, HEARNE,
PURNELL, JONES, FOOKS, WINGATE, SHORT, JEFFERSON, McCAULEY, WILLIAMS, just to
name a few.
My adopted TINDELL 1st cousins are
scattered all over the country; and, since all 12
of the Jake TINDELL children born in Jackson & Calhoun Cos.,
FL are now deceased,
our old & happy reunions are only a memory. I hope this web site will be a place where all TINDELL
cousins can visit and remember to cherish their
family history.
Happy
Hunting !!
